Ascent is an Expert Advisor which trades trend breakouts. Depending of the strength of the price movement, the EA will open up to seven additional positions in the direction of the trend in order to maximise profits, thereby inevitably accepting an increased risk exposure for the overall position. Take profit and stop loss limits are dynamically calculated based on current market conditions.
The EA provides two different sub-strategies whose trading parameters are freely configurable. Also, a money management system as well as the option to restrict trading to certain times of the day is available.
Based on backtests, Ascent achieves a risk reward ratio of 1:2 which is a solid value. The hit ratio of about 40% is by all means sufficient to make profits on the long run, however, the psychological effect of watching a quite high number of losses on an on-going basis should not be underestimated. Volatile sideward markets can cause drawdown periods of several months due to the higher number of wrong entry signals.
A Monte-Carlo-Simulation, based on backtests (2009-2013), with a lot size of 0.05, a starting balance of EUR 1.000 and 100.000 iterations, shows the following results regarding expected profits, expected drawdowns and the derived value at risk. Here the value at risk is expressed as the drawdown which is expected with a probability of 95% and 99% respectively not to be exceeded.
|Period||Profit||Drawdown||Value at Risk|
|2009 - 2013||8,573.92||2,619.53||5,311.48||58.79%||1.32%||6.82%||16.04%||22.01%|

No information provided by the developers. Given the fact that the developer switched from Clickbank - a payment processor that enforces vendors to offer a 60 day refund period - to PayPal whose refund policy is worth next to nothing, buyers shouldn't expect any right to return.
The licence is valid for up to six live or demo account and includes support and updates. It can be managed in the members area of the developers' website.
A brief online manual is available after purchase, explaining the installation and set up of Ascent as well as the input parameters.
